Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis DiCesare.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Alexis. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started working part time for Jim Karas the summer before my senior year of college at DePaul University. Upon finishing my degree in Health Science, Jim was in the process of opening his new venture, Chicago CryoSpa. I had always had a passion for health and fitness, enjoyed working for the company and like every recent college grad was in need of a full-time job.
At the time I had no idea that my part-time college job would turn into my first career but here I am almost 6 years later as the Director of Chicago CryoSpa. It has been an enjoyable road and I a have worked with some amazing people to get to where I am in my career. I truly could not imagine what my life would be like if I never started working for Jim Karas and Chicago CryoSpa. I even met my husband here!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Chicago CryoSpa was the first place to offer cryotherapy in the state of Illinois. I believe we were actually the 8th in the country! At the time of opening, I remember having to explain cryotherapy to everyone I met because no one had even heard of it before! Over the last few years, cryotherapy has become more and more popular and well known especially with the help of professional athletes and celebrities promoting it on their social media accounts.
It took almost three years before another Cryotherapy business opened in Chicago and now they are popping up in every neighborhood! We have done our best to always stay ahead of the curve with new technology and offer a variety of recovery methods to our clients.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Chicago CryoSpa – what should we know?
Cryotherapy was the first service the business had to offer with the option of Whole Body Cryotherapy, Local Cryotherapy and the Cryofacial.
Although cryo is in our business name we offer so much more than just that. We have excellent massage therapists on our staff that offer a variety of massage services such as cupping, fascial stretch therapy and Thai massage.
We have an infrared sauna that has been extremely popular with our clients to help with detoxing and relaxation. We also offer Normatec Recovery Systems for compression therapy. Our business is always growing and we are currently in the process of bringing in an acupuncturist and some new cryotherapy technology so stay tuned!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe people love coming to Chicago CryoSpa because of the environment we create. The majority of our clients come in weekly if not daily so having a knowledgeable and personable staff is very important to making the experience a great one.
I am always so excited when I hear of a client really benefiting from the services we offer. Whether it’s helping someone recover from marathon training or help with pain management post-surgery our staff is truly committed to giving our clients the best experience.
