Meet Lacey Ebert of Zenergy Integrative Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacey Ebert.

Lacey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Toward the end of my time at Appalachian State University, my plan was to continue education as a Physician Assistant. At the time, my dad was having a lot of complications due to Agent Orange from his time in the Army in Vietnam. Seeing how many medications he was on, both prescription and over-the-counter, spurred my search for alternatives. I knew I wanted to help people, but I was at a loss for the how. My mother brought me to her chiropractor where I learned more about what it is and how you can help people get out of pain. This was my answer.

While in school for chiropractic, I began having terrible migraines- up to 4 per month, lasting multiple days at a time. My student intern suggested I try acupuncture to help. Within 4 visits, my migraines were practically non-existent and I became a believer. After finishing my Doctorate in chiropractic, I completed a Masters in Acupuncture, during which time I was fortunate enough to intern at Stroger Hospital in the Pain Management Clinic. I was able to work with the clinician for a year following graduation in Oak Park, and in June 2017, I ventured out on my own to open Zenergy Integrative Health.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Surprisingly, I had to deal with some bullying while going through school. That was the low point. However, I kept the saying, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent,” close to my heart. I decided I was not going to give my consent and kept my head held high.

Starting a practice has not been easy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love working for myself, and even on the hard days, I love that I go home knowing the boss was proud of the hard work I put in.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Zenergy Integrative Health story. Tell us more about the business.
I provide individualized care- there are no cookie cutter treatment plans here! I treat every patient as an individual, and listening to the patient is one of the core values of my practice. I believe in taking the time that is necessary to gain a real understanding of what has contributed to the patient’s condition. Then, using a combination of acupuncture, chiropractic and nutrition/supplementation, my goal is to get to the root cause of the patient’s problem.

Additionally, I have added cosmetic acupuncture to the practice, which allows me to address some of the visible signs of what is going on with the patient internally- whether it is the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, thinning hair, or even varicose veins.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
What allowed me to move my practice to Lombard was having a small base of patients already in the area. It was essentially luck that they came into the practice in Oak Park on one of their friend’s recommendations to see the massage therapist I worked with, who in turn referred them to me. Not only are they great patients, but they are wonderful people and I consider myself privileged to have had them choose me to be a healthcare provider for them.
