Thanks for sharing your story with us Patricia and Erin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Originally we began as a furniture refinishing company. We were working from a basement, buying vintage furniture and giving it a new, more modern life. The day we got out of that basement and opened our first storefront in West Town will be a day that we never forget. We literally stepped out of the darkness and into the light haha.
After two years of making it (sometimes struggling) as a brick and mortar, we partnered with our favorite local maker’s company, Apartment 528, and opened a collaborative storefront in Ukrainian Village. Many of our customers throughout the years have asked us for interiors advice. As two individuals who have an affinity for design and spatial awareness, we had always been more than happy to assist our clients with design in their homes.
After several interiors projects under our belts, we decided to fully transform our business into a full-service interiors firm, and couldn’t be happier with that decision. We get to do what we love, and are still able to source vintage furniture if the client is interested in that style of design. Since our business update, we have traveled to some of the most design-centric and interesting cities, like Lisbon, Berlin, Paris, or Copenhagen.
We have really allowed ourselves to embrace, and take back with us different design styles and pieces, and implement it into our design work here in Chicago.
Has it been a smooth road?
There have been a ton of ups and downs since starting the business. We have been consistently evolving our business and brand, and have faced a bit of identity issues. We are pretty sure that people think we are still a furniture store. In fact, we still get calls asking if a sofa that we posted on our Instagram account a year ago, is still available.

We help our clients with a wide range of interior design challenges. From the blending of two households to redesigning existing homes by developing beautiful, functional spaces with furniture, textiles and accessories, both vintage and new, to create a custom feel for their overall living space.
For example, we propose small affordable design packages that include a full dimensioning of each room that needs work, along with multiple furniture layout options that best fit the space using functionality and personality. Also included are mood boards using selections that work well together, and a full purchase list of all of the furniture, textiles, lighting and decor for the customer to purchase at their convenience.
We think that just because you don’t own your home, it doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t represent the best you. There is a 10 year time period from our 20’s and into our 30’s that most people rent. It’s a significant amount of time to live in a space that doesn’t feel like it’s yours. You’re no longer in your college apartment, but not yet in your forever home. We design for the in between.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Chicago is a great place for a business like ours. The demand for accessible design is there. During the time that we had the furniture shop, we were able to witness and be a part of a community of people in Chicago that love vintage furniture and design.
We would recommend Chicago to interior designers that are just starting out. There are a lot of people here that are excited about design, that just need to be steered in the right direction.
