Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Elliott.
Gorjus Whips founder Jacque Elisabeth Elliott is a native of Chicago, Illinois, where she learned to become who you wanted to be. Jacqueline is a 20year experienced Esthetician by profession; her passion for inner and outer beauty is who she is.
Jacqueline’s dedication to skin care has allowed her to do what she performs best; create, cultivate and educate “Jacqueline has experienced many products for the face and body throughout her career, only to find that these products are filled with many chemicals and other harmful agents, yet packaged very beautifully.
Therefore, Jacqueline’s journey began. She decided to produce a product that was beautiful, luxurious, affordable and healthy yet 100 percent natural. Thus, was born Gorjus Whips Body Butter a universal product where nature meets beauty. I didn’t start out in the manufacturing of beauty products.
This business was developed from my 20-year experience of being an Esthetician (skin care expert) after sitting in the chair doing spa services and owning 4 Brick and mortars. I needed something new and fresh so I decided to close my spa in June 2014.
Not knowing what I wanted to do, but it had to be in the in the beauty business I was still undecided. I accepted a job making credit card. I knew nothing about credit card manufacturing. I think they hired me because I knew color theory, you know all of those pretty colors and designs on credit cards.
Well, that journey lasted all of six months. Literally one Sunday night I was lying in bed and rubbed my hand across my legs and said OMG my legs are so dry! In that same moment, the universe spoke and said make Body Butter Whips.
Of course, I say what? For myself. That night I sat up and started doing some research. Please keep in mind this was supposed to be for me one butter, now 27 kinds of butter and a full skincare line. I thank the universe!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Wow, yes, my biggest obstacle was I didn’t know anything about the manufacturing business (LOL) I thought it would be a smooth road.
However, I realized that the manufacturing job that I mentioned was a lead into my journey, I learned the basics of how manufacturing was done from the begging to end, from creating, packaging to the finished product, not knowing that this would be exactly what I needed a lead; different business same concept.
One of my biggest challenges was trying to talk myself out of my dream. When you start your research and see so many of the same products you begin to doubt yourself. Therefore, I quickly snapped out of it and told myself to go back to the Chanel documentary, her story inspires me so much.
I tell myself if this young woman created an empire with a button well, that was all I need to keep moving. Not to mention I love Black & White which is our brand colors. I still have obstacles and challenges, but I replay my story over to keep me focused.
Gorjus Whips Body Butter – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Gorjus Whips Body Butter a universal product where nature meets beauty. After years of practice, Jacqueline has found that custom blending oils and butter yield the most elegant solutions for the skin.
While using five different oils and Shea butter that matches our own natural oil production; we decided to create our butter to feed and nurture the skin.; Jacqueline always matches her meticulousness with curiosity.
While searching around the globe, for the best ingredients; she has studied various techniques and products that have helped her refine a singular yet unique style during manufacturing.
Jacqueline says that our butter does not only smell great, they are produced and designed according to the skin’s texture, type, and condition. However, our butter can be used on most skin conditions. Our butter is considered therapeutic as well as a lifestyle ritual.
The butter is rich in omega 3-6-9 that means that it offers deep hydration and moisture to the skin. Once she’s ready to make a new product, she treats the raw material as a second skin. Completely opposed to an industrial approach, she develops her products as if it were a living organism.
I am the CEO as well as the formulator of the products. I create, design and develop our collections. I am known for my meticulousness when it comes to developing a product. So here is what it looks like as I am creating in the lab a hair net, a Fedora yes a hat (lol) and some gospel music playing in the back round if I am missing any of the three my flow is off!
My proudest of this company, I have been able to produce a brand that retailers love and trust us enough to put on there shelf. Also. we have been accepted by Walmart online! I believe that what set’s me apart is that I am different when it comes to developing a product. When it comes to researching raw material and ingredients.
My Esthetics background has allowed me to deliver a product that will be known to the market as one of the best. I have created a brand that is universal and can be used by all our brand is a lifestyle brand and it’s designed to feed and nourish the skin.
I have knowledge of cosmetic ingredients I understand what ingredients will marry each other without having a bad reaction to its packing or to the customer skin or hair. When I started creating this line I wanted the raw materials and manufacturing to be second to none. I believe we nailed it!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is doing exactly what you’repurposed to do. My criteria are to stay focused. So at first, I was looking at other makers until I realized that I had to keep my focus on GorJus Whips that I don’t grow to fast or to slow. I want to leave a footprint for those to remember that I built this brand with nature and beauty.
