Meet Theresa Tran of The Crab Pad in Logan Square

Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Tran.

Theresa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up in a family of 11 siblings has taught me from a young age to work hard to get where I want to be. After college, I went into corporate but it wasn’t until after I left my corporate job that I found my calling working at a restaurant/event space that I found my true passion for the food service/hospitality industry. Eventually, I moved to Chicago to follow my dreams and that’s how The Crab Pad started!

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been smooth sailing for this pad. We hit a lot of currents along the way but we always rode each wave and overcame our challenges. One of the hardest challenges is navigating a new city and managing a full-time job while trying to get The Crab Pad started.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are not from Chicago but throughout the years have been able to integrate ourselves into our community participating in volunteering and giving back. We are most proud of being able to call Chicago not only our home away from home, but home. From our staff to our neighbors, to our regulars, the people of Chicago has made us feel welcome in this city. We look forward to eating more deep dish pizza and hot dogs without ketchup!

We are a Viet cajun seafood boil restaurant. Viet cajun is a style of seafood boil that originated in California and Houston taking the world by storm by adding our own flair to the tradition seafood boil marrying the garlic and butter flavor as the catalyst. We tie it all together with a DIY ice cream pop to complete the experience which is meant to be experienced with a much-needed bib, eating with your hands, getting messy and having fun! We are a place where families with babies, couples, or even college students can come and dine. We not only serve great food but an experience for all!
