Grace, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Human expression has always been my fascination. It’s about how we connect our inner experiences with the world around us. There are infinite ways we communicate with one another – through music, pictures, words, body language – it’s all communication. A lot of the time, we aren’t conscious of what we’re communicating. Becoming conscious of it all has been my lifelong fascination.
I went to college to study Audio Engineering and was surprised when I found myself in love with my Marketing Communications classes. I was hooked. I ran with it, and over the past 7 years, doing marketing has given me the freedom to learn about the expression on a much larger and broader scale than I could have imagined. Now I help businesses communicate with other businesses. We mix in different creative tools and strategies to form the identity of a business and deploy it in a way that brings in the right business relationships.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a journey with some smooth sailing, and some storms. Being in the business world, I’ve dealt with my fair share of sexism. But I’ve also been lucky to have encountered some bad-ass women who have done a lot to pave the way for me and other women. There’s an up-side to everything. I have stronger, deeper relationships with other female business owners who have seen the same realities and we actively support one another. Some groups I love are Women Belong, The Second Shift, and FemCity. Plus, I have my own private group of “boss lady” friends.
Every worthwhile journey comes with struggles and the day-to-day struggles with Lead Love are such satisfying, exciting, and empowering struggles!

Lead Love does 3 things:
1. B2B marketing (branding + audience definition)
2. Lead generation consulting and support
3. Marketing coaching for small businesses
What I’m most proud of right now is the ability to bend lead generation methodologies to work for (almost) any budget. Of course, you get what you pay for in terms of lead volume and support. But I’ve been able to get small businesses rolling with plans that meet their needs and flow with the same principles that are effective for large corporations.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
The sweetest memory I can think of is the first time I learned the words to a song, when I was about 4. My mom taught me ‘Do-wah-diddy’. I remember being surprised when she said “Repeat after me… Doo-wah-diddy.”… I repeated after her and then we sang it together. To me, it felt like she was letting me in on a HUGE secret – something that the whole world was in on. We used to sing silly songs together while we were doing mundane things, like driving places. Instead of talking all the time, we’d sing together and feel connected.
