Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianne Bishop.
Brianne did not discover her passion for interior design, she was born with it. As a young girl she would create multi-level floor plans by arranging images from her parent’s Architectural Digest magazines; and since then has never veered from her dream of becoming an Interior Designer.
As a Licensed Interior Designer, she founded Brianne Bishop Design in 2009 after years of working for a design/build Architecture/Interior Design firm that specialized in high-end residential and hospitality projects. Trained under a prominent Chicago modernist Architect, Brianne refined her skills in not only interior design, but also architecture, construction management and building systems, making her more knowledgeable on all aspects of her field. These additional skill sets add an unparalleled value to her approach to every project. Her goal is to provide every Client with an environment that meets their vision and needs, with the addition of timeless style, and just the right amount of the unexpected. She prides herself on value, honesty, and communication.
Brianne holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the prestigious Harrington College of Design, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from Western Michigan University; giving her not only a strong knowledge and understanding of design education, but also budgeting, scheduling and project management. She also had the experience of studying art history and architecture in London. While there, she then traveled throughout Europe, experiencing firsthand the fundamentals of her practice.
She was recently awarded “Best Contemporary Design Firm” 2015 by Interiors-CS Magazine. A recent project was also the cover feature of Interior Magazine Winter 2017. She is also a recipient of the inaugural “Top 5 under 5” award and recognized as a Distinguished Alumni by Harrington College of Design. In 2007 Chicago Scene magazine named her as a “Designer to Watch”.
Please tell us about your art.
Brianne Bishop Design creates beautiful, unique, livable and timeless spaces. As the Principal of this firm I take great pride in my history of strong referrals from happy Clients after creating their dream spaces for them. My favorite part of every project is to get to know my Client and translate their style into a home/space beyond their expectations. I strive to have the space reflect now only their style and needs but the neighborhood, architecture and of course our design stamp as well by helping them push the boundaries outside their comfort zone.
There is no greater feeling than at the end of the project to have created a beautiful space that my Clients love,
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
Our interior design industry is shifting daily. Our “trade only” sources are becoming available to the public and end users becoming educated. I welcome this change as I prefer to be valued for my experience, education and knowledge rather than the cost of a piece of furniture, therefore I like to be very transparent with my Clients about all cost related subjects. Also with the new tools out there such as Pinterest and houzz there’s a sense of DIY Clients feel comfortable attempting. We have received many new Clients, however, who quickly realized they were in over their head and needed a professional.
