Meet Bill Parsons of Maximum Fantasy Sports in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bill Parsons.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Bill. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have commissioned fantasy football leagues since my youth, which were run on paper as the Internet was still just a gleam in Al Gore’s eyes. My leagues were always inventive. After the internet came to be and fantasy sports were being offered by Yahoo, ESPN and CBS, I was very dissatisfied as they were too basic so I decided to build my own site to have features available like I have grown accustomed to using. I have slowly built Maximum Fantasy Sports over the course of the past eight years. The core of MFS was in place after a few years and I began rolling the product out to the general public a little at a time. After that initial rollout, I continued to add features and games. MFS is currently the most well-rounded fantasy football platform in existence.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been far from smooth, it has been self-funded so that was a large commitment to the endeavor. On top of that, the revenue model and laws keep changing so it is hard to take a breath and not have to keep changing on a yearly basis.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
The edge that MFS has over other companies is that it offers Fantasy football redraft and keeper leagues, Daily/weekly/monthly leagues and various fantasy football pools; Survivor, Confidence, Pick ’em and Squares pools in one location. The majority of fantasy football players play in multiple of these league types and one site to host all of their various leagues is very attractive to them.

Within each of these offerings is a variety of unique features. The most unique features in our fantasy football leagues allow leagues to handle player injury and timeshares more efficiently. We have features that allow players to be swapped in/out by half or quarter so multiple players could make up a full game’s worth of stats, roll over a player’s stats from the week before their Bye Week so a fill-in player isn’t required and we offer a Team QB feature that simply uses the stats of all players on the team to accumulate passing stats for that game.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up with a passion for sports and the outdoors. I played many sports as a child but my growth never kept up with my interest level so I was soon turned from a player to a spectator. While playing backyard games is still fun, fantasy sports has absorbed part of that competitiveness. I still love the outdoors and try to enjoy it as much as possible.
