Meet Charles Thomas of Vizonary Studios in Humbolt Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Thomas.

Charles, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Born and raised on Chicago’s west side, I began my love for art at a young age, exploring various art forms including free hand drawing, painting, and graphic design. As my talent grew, I began to discover other artistic mediums in the print and fashion design industries. Following my period as a streetwear and print designer, I was drawn to the realm of photography and videography, and has since created images that have been applauded both locally and nationally. Never abandoning my fashion and graphic design roots, I’ve worked with renowned brands including Nike, H&M, and Le Cordon Bleu to name a few, and share my most recent works as artistic director of my own design company Vizonary Studios. Even though I venture into all art forms I still strive to create visually striking images that depict simplistic beauty and sensuality in today’s modern world.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t believe in smooth roads. I feel everything you set out to create are always going to have some type of challenges whether is big or small. Things like, not having support from friends and family and solely having to believe in yourself and provide self-motivation. To not having the funds to acquire the talents you seek or create what on your mind and not getting the recognition you feel you deserve after being determined in your career path for so long.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Vizonary Studios – what should we know?
Vizonary Studios is a branding and marketing agency. We bring craft, concept and storytelling together, beautifully, through visual brand identities and systems, brand books, logos, packaging and digital design. We deliver engaging creative digital experiences across all platforms, along with expertise in development and deployment of websites, apps, digital signage, social integration and more.

We specialize in commercial photography and graphic design.

Clients come to us and find value in what we do. We often times become a resource for our clients, which is why they continue to come back and request ideas of what to do next. If we can’t get it done through our vendor relationships & partnerships, then we recommend a solution for their needs, thus making us our clients marketing solutions architect. We believe building relationships is the key to a successful long relationship and we will continue to do that through networking and quality work.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel passion is the foundation of it all. It drives all other attributes to become successful. From my experience passion will get you there. Life is 10 percent what you experience and 90 percent how you respond to it.
