Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Goldshaft.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Robert. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Robert immigrated from Israel in 1973 with experience as an artist and a drive to succeed. Robert found himself in beauty school on the suggestion of a friend, which ultimately turned out to become his passion. Robert began working as a hair stylist and within a year, he had established a name for himself. Robert’s passion for the industry and hunger to constantly learn and improve, led him to long wait lists and a name for himself on the north shore. In 2005, Robert decided it was time to pursue his dream of opening his own luxury salon and spa. It was then, that the eponymous Robert Gold Salon & Spa was created. Starting with a staff of himself and his daughter, the color director, Robert had faith that he would one day grow his salon into something big. Thirteen years later, he has a staff of 13 and a loyal following in the upscale town of Evanston. He still takes pride in providing his guest’s with the highest quality of creativity and style, and ensuring that his staff is educated on the latest trends and fashions. Robert’s salon provides and warm and family feel, with a welcoming staff and eagerness to please.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with any business, it takes time to grow. Starting out in such a large space with just Robert and his daughter Melissa, there were the beginning concerns of making ends meet. Luckily, the neighborhood was excited to have such a beautiful space nearby and trusted us. With their incredible loyalty, and word of mouth, we were able to grow an amazing, loyal and talented staff and continue to grow our client base. We are fortunate to have been so welcomed by our neighborhood.
Robert Gold Salon & Spa – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a full-service salon and spa. We offer individualized haircuts, styles, up-do’s, highlights, corrective color, creative color, keratin treatments, facials, waxing, threading, makeup, lash and brow tinting and weddings. We are known for the personalized attention each guest receives. We are not a cookie cutter salon. We also offer an incredibly warm and welcoming environment. There are personal touches such as bagels on the the weekends and ever changing offering of treats.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as connecting with my guests and producing a satisfied client. Every guest is looking for something different and has different needs. When we are able to listen to our guests, hear what they are saying and provide them with their needs we are successful. Our clients trust us with such a personal experience and put their faith in our capabilities. When they leave happy and feeling good about themselves, I feel we have succeeded. When our guests refer us to their friends and trust us with our suggestions, I know that we have developed the most special bond.
