Today we’d like to introduce you to Edwin Alvarez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Edwin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I first started out working for a Chinese Family in Bridgeport. I was an assistant and aided in various situations and when the family went on vacation, they actually trusted me to run things. After working for them for about 4 years, I tried going on my own working for a few chiropractors. This was a little hit or miss for me and I always felt a little out of the loop since I wasn’t a chiropractor and there is definite a difference in our medicines. After a small little miscommunication in busy crowded office, I decided that I should just go on my own. I took the gamble and now, here I am.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been definitely a bumpy road. I have been on a make it or break shoe string DIY for about three years! I put pretty much all my savings on a build out and have been doing navigating a winding path. It’s been a lot of give and take and definitely patience tried.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
When I am at an acupuncture clinic, that treats a variety illnesses and discomforts. I also do Tui na, structural massage. It is a Chinese style mobilization technique that aims to free the joints and muscle tissues. I have Chinese Herbs that I grind into powder and make teas for a variety of ailments from asthma, bronchitis, colds, eczema and gastro intestinal issues.
This is a lot of me in the works. It has been a work in progress and there have been many steps. It’s a slow growth but there has been definite progress.
I am very casual and personal, I prefer a degree of intimacy. Not that you have to tell me everything! Lol. But, I feel sometimes you have to give more heart.
Sometimes, a cat is also on the premises.
What were you like growing up?
I’m shy, quiet and studious.
