Today we’d like to introduce you to Roman Serra.
Roman, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started painting in 2000. Art has always been a passion of mine from a very young age. Over the years, I’ve made many sacrifices to keep my artistic pursuit alive. Persistence kept me from selling myself short though sometimes, teetering on the edge of financial ruin. Several years ago, I decided to pursue a career in real estate. It was a decision I had made in order to support my artistic endeavors for the long term and it paid off. I am currently a top broker at my firm Spaces Real Estate and was named agent of the year for 2017.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I try to remember the good times. Sure there’s been struggles; near financial ruin, the death of my close friends… what motivates me is the belief that there is a duality to every situation. I try to see the good first and resist the urge to set my canvases on fire… but that still happens sometimes.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fine Artist – what should we know?
I consider myself a fine artist. Painting and drawing is my main focus and I strive to make images that unfold over time for the viewer. Sometimes, I set my canvases ablaze or use my breath to draw with paint. Lately the composition takes precedence, I’ve been striving to be considered an imagist or at least a futurist.
My work can be found in collections throughout the US, Europe and Asia. both private and corporately held.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Persistence has been my saving grace. It’s important to never stop dreaming! I’ll eventually reach my goals.
