Today we’d like to introduce you to Nolis Anderson.
Nolis, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been shooting since 2008. But, only professionally for the last 4 yours or so. I was initially in the field of medicine working as a licensed pharmacist. After a few years, I had the opportunity to take photography seriously and took the jump. I started out shooting parties just pictures for my friends. At the moment, I have clients from Chicago Bulls to W Magazine to Nike, that I work with consistently as a freelance photographer.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being freelance is never really a smooth road due to the fact that you never really know when you may or may not get jobs. It’s a constant grind and a life with no days off.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is Nolis Anderson Photography. I specialize in portrait and lifestyle photography. Normally, when a client inquires about my work, it is because that are interested in getting photos that will express their vision through my creative direction. As an artist, I think its somewhat easy to set yourself apart if you’re being true to yourself. The difficult part is doing that in a way that is attractive to other people.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I believe Chicago is a great place to start out with in photography. Our city has a variety of resources from equipment rentals, creative/modeling agencies, as well as our architecture and overall substance of the city itself. As well as our location is centralized, it’d be easier to travel to other cities for work if that’s something people are interested in.
