Today we’d like to introduce you to Azuka Morah.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It began in 1999 when I was an ad exec. Dealing with burnout, I decided to give myself a break. That’s when it hit me to start my own business. After narrowing down my list of interests and passions, I decided to go with makeup. I researched and worked with many different cosmetics manufacturers and labs to help me develop my cosmetics line.
In 2001, I launched Great Face Café 2001 at a kiosk in a mall. I performed brow waxing, makeup application, and sold my own exclusive line of cosmetics, Great Face Café Cosmetics.
As I outgrew my kiosk, in 2002 I open Great Face Café Makeup Studio. And the rest, as they say, is history.
This year we are celebrating our 15 year anniversary. It’s truly a blessing.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For the most part, it’s been what anyone can expect with business ownership. Of course they’re challenges cause you are learning as you go and as your grow. But they’re called obstacles…you’re presented with an issue, but you hurdle over it.
Please tell us about Great Face Café Makeup Studio.
We are a Makeup Studio/Cafe. We specialize in brow waxing/shaping, lash application, and makeovers. We are especially known for our brows and the chill and comfortable environment at the café. Customers can enjoy a hot or cold beverage as they are receiving services.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Absolutely nothing. Everything I’ve gone through or experienced was necessary for my personal and professional growth. It developed me into a stronger, more resilient, and confident person. And it has prepared for any future endeavors.
