Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Scodro.
Kim, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Kim Scodro Interiors started 10 years ago. We believe our clients drive the vision of the project and it is our responsibility to give them the best version of their vision.
The very first job I got remains my single most challenging client, and that was the best thing that could have happened. Being pushed to give more, offer the best service and provide the best design for a space is something that you have to give to each project to succeed.
When the company began, it was just me working with clients on single projects. Quickly we grew to whole home renovations, new builds and design. Finding the best team in the business has been the key to our growth. At KSI, the client always comes first and we never loose site of the fact they we have been hired to provide them a service.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We always struggle with having enough time and support to give to our clients. The last thing I want is the designer to feel overworked or stressed but there are times we can’t avoid that. Creativity and vision is key to executing any project but stress can weaken those skills. Currently we are doing great, with perfect balance. This is also an industry where you don’t know when your next project is coming. Unlike businesses that have renewals, we are constantly working toward keeping our workload balanced.
Kim Scodro Interiors – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We create classic yet current environments for high end residential projects. I am so proud of the work we do and the service we provide to our clients. We will do everything in our power to make sure the client is happy, that they love their space and feel they had their voice heard in the design process. There are several amazing design firms and rather than think we set ourselves apart from them, I prefer to think we succeed right along with them.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Personally I define success by measuring a clients’ happiness. We may love a projects’ end result but unless the client is happy it is not a success. We are dealing with very personal spaces, someone’s home. There are no right answers when defining how you live in your space, our job is to make it as tasteful as possible. Of course, if someone does not share our vision of tasteful interiors, it is in everyone’s best interest to pass on that job.
