Today we’d like to introduce you to Bailey Schonenberger.
Bailey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My best friend Angelica and I were talking about our futures. I have always loved baking and knew that I wanted to do something with that. She came up with the idea that we open our own bakery. She’s more of the face then I am. She typically deals with the customers, and I deal more with the baking. But I am starting to handle the customers, so they can meet me and know who’s baking their goodies
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh man. Well, some of the struggles we faced were I’m an introvert. I’d rather be baking all day long, instead of dealing with people. That’s where my best friend comes in. Another challenge is when we get super busy. There are couple times of year where it gets insane and I struggle to get orders done in a timely manner.
Please tell us about Best Friends Bakery.
We are a small bakery. I literally will make everything under the sun. I don’t have one thing I specialize in. I do everything from cookies, chocolate chip to shortbread, to pies; apple to banana cream, to cakes; chocolate to sunrise and I have what I call my extras which are things like Jamaican rum balls or cinnamon rolls.
I believe what sets us apart is we take the time to get to know our customers and actually treat them like people instead of just another dollar
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory would probably have to be baking in the kitchen with my mom and my best friend
