Today we’d like to introduce you to Debra Ingargiola.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Debra. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always known that I have wanted to own my own bar and grill. So after 13 years of working in and running other peoples, I decided it was finally the right time. Both my kids started school and my husband was finally working normal hours at his job. I had been keeping my eye out for a couple years for the perfect spot and when this one popped up I knew it was the one.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Owning a bar is never easy, but this one I knew would be a real challenge. The previous owner had lost a lot of business by having sporadic hours for the kitchen and the bar itself. For a small place like this consistency is very important. Also, the neighbors are who you need to cater to and he just didn’t do that. Once I changed the name and got out there that it was a new owner and good food people started to come back.
The Land on Lincoln – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a great little neighborhood bar, no corporate backers here just me and my awesome staff. All of our food is from scratch and family recipes, try Nonna’s meatball sandwich. We have a curated liquor selection with some awesome under the radar bourbons and whiskeys. I think one of the best things about going to bars is trying new things.
So I am always adding new bottle and cans and we have twelve taps, I like to keep the beers/ ciders that are on very fresh, local and seasonal. We also do a fun thing called Mystery Beer, for $2 the bartender pulls a beer out of the cooler without looking. There are unusually 15 different varieties in there, it could be a PBR it could be a Sweetwater IPA
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success and happiness go hand in hand. I’m only successful if my customers and staff are happy. So I do my best to create a comfortable and fun atmosphere for everyone.
