Meet Leo Gonzalez and Alex Agudo of L&A Healing Studio in South Loop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leo Gonzalez and Alex Agudo.

Gentelmen, please share your story with us.
We had a dream of having a place where everyone is welcome. Though we have different backgrounds, Alex has been a jewelry maker/art therapist/dancer/group fitness instructor for over ten years and Leo has been in the nursing field/medic in the military/massage therapist and has a masters in Chinese medicine. Alex speaks five languages and has a passion for the arts, history, and dance. Leo is world traveler who loves Switzerland and Spain. With everything combined, Leo and Alex thought about having a place that would combine all these different aspects. Leo met with Alex to discuss the business opportunity and within 3 months we chose our name for the store and opened up shop. At first people did not know what to make of the store, but as time goes by people who venture into our store have said, “it feels like home or the energy is so relaxing.” Instead of working a 9am-5pm, we work a 5am-9pm and we would not have it any other way. We have some of the best clients, that a small business could ask for. The South Loop community has been very welcoming and extremely supportive and we would not be where we are today without them. both Alex and I love our store because we keep learning something new everyday.

Has it been a smooth road?
We are still learning the “business” aspect of our business. We have a few indecent contractors all with different personalities. We are still navigating the aspect of boss vs friend with the independent contractors and different artists represented at L&A.

L& A Healing is a leading therapy studio located in the heart of Chicago. We are a 21st century new concept boutique, which combines massage therapy, art therapy, pilates, yoga, and of course RETAIL THERAPY!

A new concept boutique by founders Leo and Alex… We want to bring you a little peace of mind, so when you walk into our boutique/healing space, whether it is for massage therapy, retail therapy, yoga, body remix, Pilates, art class, a jewelry making class, reformer class, or physical therapy our goal is that when you leave our doors, you are feeling better than when you walked in!

We think that there is not another store similar to ours. We have been able to blend in art classes, massage therapy, jewelry making, retail, group fitness classes, private pilate classes, and much more and people love it. We are a neutral space and a place where people are free to be themselves, while getting a little peace of mind.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We love the diversity of Chicago, there are people and food from everywhere. We least like the cold days of winter.

Introductory Massage 60 minute for $50 or 90 minute for $75
Group fitness unlimited classes $130 per month
Introductory Jewelry making class 2 hours $35, make a necklace, bracelet, earrings using different techniques
BYOB paint your own pet on Friday’s 7PM-9PM-$35 per person
