Today we’d like to introduce you to Torá White.
Torá, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started when I was 15 years old I got into graphic design and learned how to edit images and doing simple to extreme retouching. Then I finally decided I wanted to edit my own images so I joined yearbook club and ended up going to all sports games and school clubs meetings, pep fests and more.
The crazy thing our yearbook club started with 40 students and by the time the yearbook final was almost due to submit for completion there were only 8 people left and the yearbook wasn’t halfway done.
So I told the yearbook teacher I’d do the entire thing since I had the experience. There was 2 weeks left to complete it and I finished it in 1 week. After I graduated I went the Ai for web design and interactive media while still continuing my photography. A year later I dropped out college just wasn’t for me.
Once I turned 18 I registered and trademarked my company and began marketing my company traveling the states and out of the country working with new people about a year later I started to get into video production as well. I’ve had some tough times when I’ve been homeless but something always told me don’t sell my camera or laptop.
So I had limited clothes but always kept my camera and laptop with me regardless if I was sleeping on a friends couch or at a homeless shelter for a few months to a year. And now it’s 2017 going into 2018 I’m not 25 and I can officially say I’ve been doing photography for 10 years and video production for 7 years. That’s kinda my story. The short end of it.
Has it been a smooth road?
I kinda answered that in the question before with being homeless. Not always having the right funds to do things. Life is still a struggle every day but I refuse to give up cause I’ve made it this far.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I do photography, video production, graphic design, image retouching, web design, and marketing. All self-taught.
What’s sets me apart from others is my quality of work and my fast turn around time. My clients typically get their Images or final Video project within 24-48 hours.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Personally, I’d tell someone to travel. See the world and then make their choice on where they want to be but I’d say if you have a great support system where you use them to push you forward until your ready to make that jump.
