Today we’d like to introduce you to Marc Wuenschel.
A hutch is a traditional piece of furniture present in most family’s dining rooms. It’s familiar, dependable and showcases our most beloved belongings. That’s the reason owner/chef Marc Wuenschel decided Hutch Chicago was the perfect name for his new American bistro in Lakeview.
Hutch Chicago offers a take on American classics including appetizers like the Hutch board (cured meats, Wisconsin cheese curds, jumbo corn nuts, house pickles and seasonal garnish), skillet shrimp (creole butter and dunking bread) and tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons. Entree stand outs include double cut pork chop (grilled and served with mushroom Demi and grilled asparagus). An array of brick-oven flatbreads, burgers and sandwiches complete the menu. Complement your dinner with a craft brew, “New Fashioned” cocktail or glass of wine.
Hutch was conceived based on two ideas; people want to be comfortable where they eat and what they eat and drink has to be cravable. Hutch represents just that, a warm and inviting place to truly enjoy yourself and food that is approachable, and most importantly delicious.
Dressed in natural woven textiles and dark wood Hutch is the perfect place to dip into a dark tufted pebbled leather banquette while enjoying comfort food in a friendly environment. Anchoring the warm, intimate space is a bar backed with elegant wood shelves, a nod to the restaurant’s rustic, furniture-inspired name. Twinkling, wheel-shaped chandeliers shower light onto tables clustered across vintage tile and gleaming hardwood floors. Inviting golden-yellow walls dominate the interior, while flowerbeds surround a sidewalk patio.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been a smooth road for sure. We opened up in July of 2013. We started with just dinner only and then 5 months later we offered brunch. The first 4 to 5 months we couldn’t get but a few brunch guests. Then by the following January 2014 we became the place for brunch. Still today it is crazy busy on Sat/Sun for our famous boozy brunch. Then fall of 2015 we started offering brunch every day and it’s been great for us.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hutch American Bistro – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Hutch is the place you can come dressed up or casual and have a great dining experience. Come in for dinner at the bar or a nice window view in our dining room. You can go simple with a Great burger or a nice grilled steak or seafood. We have also become a destination for BRUNCH 7 days a week. Serving up traditional breakfast, chicken & waffles or lox on a board. Plus our mimosas and eye opener cocktails are priced right…
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We just opened our second location in October 2016. It’s an all day brunch and happy hour location in River North. Hutch American Cafe.
We are planning on opening a few more concepts with the Hutch name. Stay tuned!!
