Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Silenzi.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Michael. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey started 6 years ago when I competed on season 4 of the TV show American Ninja Warrior. I did very well on the show and got to compete again for season 5, 6, 7, and the most recent season 9. Over those years I had been trying to figure out the means to start a Ninja Warrior training facility. Finally, within the last year I left my job as a Physical Therapist and am now co-owner of Ultimate Ninjas Libertyville.
Has it been a smooth road?
There have been many struggles along the way but I don’t like to think of them as struggles, I think of them as learning opportunities. Having no prior business experience I have now learned what goes into starting a business.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Ultimate Ninjas Libertyville story. Tell us more about the business.
I am co-owner and manager at the Libertyville location of Ultimate Ninjas. We are a training facility for American Ninja Warrior, especially for kids through classes and open play. We also specialize in birthday parties and school outings. I’m proud to promote fitness for the whole family in a new and fun way.
What is special about Ultimate Ninjas is we are managed by competitors from the show so we understand what it takes to be a Ninja Warrior and we understand these obstacles better than anyone. We are also skilled at teaching various techniques to accomplish obstacles, a lot because this is where we practice and train ourselves.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Ninja as a sport is growing exponentially. We are already planning competitions between our 3 locations.
Pricing:
- Kids open gym: $12 for 1 hour or $20 for 2 hours
- Kid classes: $25 per class, monthly enrollment available
- Adult open gym: $10
- Birthday Party: $395 for 2 hour party with 15 kids (includes t-shirt and free class)
