Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Ross.
Robin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education from De Paul University, Chicago. I also have a certificate in birth-3 in Montessori (AMI), Denver, CO. My passion for education and understanding the importance of early childhood development is what led me to seek a more natural approach to birthing my first born. It was my incredible and empowering birthing experience with the aid of my husband, birth doula, and HypnoBirthing®, which gave way to finding my true passion: helping other moms and families have a confident, calm, and empowering birthing experience. I felt if I could do it, others could with support and guidance.
I became a certified Hypnobirthing instructor in 2008 and a certified birth doula. I also became a certified lactation educator in 2010 as I really wanted to support my families post birth as I know I struggled with breastfeeding and wanted others to know they were not alone and I could help! I also became a placenta encapsulation in 2015. Furthermore, I became a certified aromatherapist in May 2017. I have seen the positive effects of aromatherapy with the clients I work with my goal is to support my clients in a safe and effective manner. My goal is to provide the families I work with, with a “one-stop shop,” while helping to provide the education they need to support all their decisions which will guide them prenatally and beyond.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. I had to balance having children in the midst of starting my business as well as working a part-time job in a Montessori school. I then took the plunge a month before the birth of my third child to just concentrate on my own business. The uncertainties were huge as we had just moved into a new home and all the financial responsibilities that I faced being a business owner.
However, I preserve. It is hard living an on call lifestyle and trying to give my all to each and every one of my clients. The biggest hurdle I have ever had to face was dealing with the grief as my Dad passed away and having to support my clients at the same time. However, it worked out and I had found support in my colleagues at that time. Furthermore, as a sole business owner, it is hard to be the marketing manager, the CFO, the CEO, the office manager, customer service manager, and everything in between, but I would not trade it!

My business specializes in providing prenatal education and labor birth support. I am an expert in my field due to my experience over the past 9 years as a birth doula and the HypnoBirthing background I have. What I am most proud of in my company is customer satisfaction. I put my all into my craft, which is why my business flourishes from word of mouth. I take pride in my ability to provide and satisfy my clients with what they have hired me to do. Whether it by childbirth classes, breastfeeding/baby care classes, placenta encapsulation, labor support, or aromatherapy….my goal is to give all I can to each family I work with and that is what I try to accomplish.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to possibly help open a birth center that is a one stop shop for families that are in between wanting a hospital birth and a home birth but wanting the safety and comfort of something in between.
