Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudette Redic.
Claudette, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hello! I am Claudette Redic, a Serial Entrepreneur. Cider Enterprises is my umbrella company. Cider Enterprises – Business Consulting provides strategies and services that “help harness the energy of profitable business ventures” for entrepreneurs. Our network of business experts provide relationships for women seeking to grow their ideas for helping others through both their organizations and private businesses.
The ciderenterprisesbookclub.com has operated for more than four years on a platform of monthly conference calls. Our “Featured Authors are ‘over-comers’ who are ‘independently pressed’. Their insightful and meaningful stories are shared interactively and allow the opportunity for caller questions.
“Instant Ain’t Everything – Profitable Legacy Building Comes Over Time” is my book of personal entrepreneurial experiences that is designed to give a bigger perspective of who I am and to share my vision of building “Sistah’s Home – The Place of Love in Action” here in Chicago. It is an opulent and abundant family-friendly resort, that serves as a global destination for those interested in Hospitality, Hope, and Health. It is a respite and place of renewal that is dedicated to African American women.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A smooth rode, possibly would not have been the route to growth and confidence in my talents and skills. As early as young childhood, I knew I wanted to control my own destiny in terms of what I was doing and how I would do it. Entrepreneurship allowed me to try out many ideas over time that enabled me to help myself and other people. I grew up in a household of brothers and Mom became an entrepreneur after Dad was out of our home. She taught me resiliency and perseverance for myself and the family and my community.
My natural inclination for order and processes to sustain that order has allowed me many opportunities to expand and grow in different arenas. Relationships are key to understanding how I can help another and convey and request the help I need or want from them. As a life-long learner, I have not hesitated to jump in where I fit in to promote and be a part of the solutions for our communities.
Some of my biggest struggles along the way have derived from my own personal perspectives. I have needed to introspectively figure out the problem within and work to change the outer. My women in business concepts have shifted drastically to incorporate the reality that we go further faster when we are together. Working on platforms that engage women in empowering actions has been the result.
Please tell us about Cider Enterprises.
Cider Enterprises reflects what I can do now with what I have. Within Sistah’s Home, there are pavilions for Hospitality, Hope, and Health. The name recognition I have presently derived from the ciderenterprisesbookclub.com.
With only my love of books, I created the conference call and decided that I would feature authors who have ‘overcome’ life-changing experiences and they are willing to share their empowering stories through their own publishing and promotion efforts. The past four years have provided a litany of meaningful conversations for the authors and the audience. These and other creative endeavors will be featured in the Hope Pavilion of Sistah’s Home.
Hospitality is conveyed during several annual events that commemorate the growth of the Vision. These events are free and open to the public. and provide opportunities to personally connect with supporters and followers during each quarter. Prayer Breakfasts for the vision in the Spring; Birthday/Black History Celebration during February; Central Gathering place during weekend of Annual Sunrise Service in August and the year ends with our Kwanzaa event,
Sistah’s Home really promotes the Health component during the summer months as we work in and shop at produce gardens throughout the South-side that utilize youth based urban farming. We try out and promote healthy recipes created by them. We look for chefs and cooks who can teach us how to prepare the vegetables.. In addition, we explore alternative health options that may include herbs and low impact exercises along with other meditative practices.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Surprisingly my fondest memories center around the opportunities to read a book. I got my first real paycheck at 13 while working on the Book Mobile that came to my community. I had the unprecedented privilege to check out as many books as I could read in a week.
