Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Katz.
Carly, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My husband and I wanted to find a way to take our love of craft beer, wine, and spirits and share it with our community. Living in Northcenter we knew that this neighborhood would be the perfect place. With that, we could bring insight, education and help introduce our customers to a wide array of amazing craft beers made here in Chicago, across the US, and around the world. As an added bonus we have met and made some amazing friends!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We laughed at this question. To put it mildly, there were sacrifices along the way. We’ve been incredibly lucky and grateful for the support of our families and the community! Making the choice to open our own business, meant that we were heading down a road that would not always be smooth, but the hope was that it would eventually pave the way (see what I did there :)) for something great.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bottles and Cans – what should we know?
We are a craft beer-focused liquor store. Our mix your own 6 pack set us apart, in that, we allow people to mix and match from anything in the store. We also do a beer advent calendar call Fa La La La Beer Box each holiday season. 25 beers for 25 days. Every year we change it up. This year we teamed up with local breweries to create beers that are only found in our beer box.
We also have a great wine and craft spirit selection. Our employees are knowledgeable and friendly. We want everyone to feel like family!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The quality of the people that walk into our store every day! We literally have the best customers in the world! We are so grateful to every person. Our neighborhood people who we see every week, the people who drive up from different states to see us to the guy who found us randomly, but keeps coming back.
