Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Ashley Frer.
Dr. Ashley Frer has been one of Chicago’s top holistic medicine practitioner for over 15 years. Dr Frer utilizes both Eastern and Western Medicine techniques and philosophy, to achieve balance of the body, which creates optimal health and wellness, both internally and externally. Simply put, wellness is a connection of paths, knowledge, and action.
Dr. Frer started her practice The Well after moving back from graduate school in Los Angeles. She opened her doors with the philosophy that healing starts from the inside. She has built a practice that specializes in getting to the root of ailment. She utilizes a wide range of techniques which include acupuncture, chiropractic, eastern medicine, western medicine, herbal therapy, nutraceuticals, cupping, qi gong, functional medicine and medical aesthetics.
Dr. Frer believes in providing long term solutions instead of temporary cover-ups. At The Well we give patients the guidance they need to rebuild their health, both internally and externally. Clients come for a wide range of treatments, such as musculoskeletal, infertility, autoimmune conditions, allergies, weight loss, digestive conditions aesthetics.
The Well has a medical aesthetic spa that specializes in services the clients’ needs to maintain their external beauty and anti-aging needs. Services provided include microderm facials, microneedling, pigment reducing procedures, anti-aging peels, skin tightening and fat reduction lasers for the body and face.
Dr. Frer also utilizes her expertise in treating fertility problems, and is one of the top holistic fertility medicine practitioners in Chicago. She also has a real passion for successfully aiding the growing infertility population. This has led her to combine services with tow of the top fertility specialists Dr Ilan Thur-kaspa and Dr David Cohen at the Institute of Human Reproduction. Fertility services are provided at the 900 N Michigan Surgical Center. This combination of delivering acupuncture pre and post IVF, helps to optimize embryo transfer success, which will facilitate a healthier baby and a smoother pregnancy.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I first opened my practice 16 years ago acupuncture and alternative medicine techniques had not been well integrated with western medicine. Neither had it been really accepted and popular with the population in general the need and acceptance for alternative medicine techniques has changed over the last 10 years dramatically. Alternative medicine has grown drastically and has become a first choice before using western medicine for many.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Some of my proudest moments are working with woman to achieve healthy pregnancies and babies who have not been able to get pregnant naturally or with ART(Assisted Reproductive Techniques). I have many testimonials, pictures and stories I could share with your magazine and your readers.
