Today we’d like to introduce you to Vikram Singh.

In 2009 Agnes and Vikram Singh left their corporate jobs to focus on their passion: bringing India’s culinary delights to Chicago. Kama Bistro is named after the Indian cupid, the god of love and passion, symbolizing the aesthetic pleasure of the senses. Indulge your senses and experience the passion Kama brings to its food and service.

Following in the footsteps of Vikram’s father, a star chef in India, all dishes are prepared from scratch using only fresh ingredients. Traditional curries are elevated with freshly ground spices and time-tested family recipes.

Explore unique crossover dishes like black pepper Chilean sea bass, Sockeye salmon with mango chutney, tamarind-glazed ribs and lamb tacos. Pair with a handcrafted martini and ﬁnish off with a homemade chutney topped dessert.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It never was and never will be smooth. Anyone who wants to do anything substantial in life should dispel this need for smoothness.

Right and enough people is the number one struggle and if you are growing it will always be.

The rest is manageable.

Kama Bistro – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Progressive Indian cuisine, made from scratch. Known for Indian seafood and Lamb dishes. We have been able to be creative and improve quality, low cost and grow at a fast paced. This is very hard to do and what we are extremely proud of.

We have also received Michelin Bib Gourmand, numerous Open Table dining rewards and some TV and press coverage.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Return on Capital, Return on time and quality of life for my wife and I. This is achievable by having a positive impact on customers and employees life.
