Meet Yanna Heuvelhorst of Lashes By Yanna in West Loop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yanna Heuvelhorst.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Yanna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been a Licensed Esthetician for four years. I was introduced to the art of Eyelash Extensions while working at a spa. I knew that this is where I would like to be next in my beauty career, transforming busy women (from stay at home moms to professionals) who like to look their best, but spend less time on makeup in the morning.

After hours of research, I took a Classic Lash Course to get my certification and started practicing on friends. Soon after, I found a room to rent and from that point on, I took the leap of faith, risk, time, and money invested. I devoted my time from increasing my skill set, seeking new knowledge, to marketing on Social Media and running the business. I started with only a small handful of clienteles and devoted my time to do whatever it takes to get clients on demand and keep them.

In the past, I took pride in the work I do, even if it’s not something I love. That habit prepared me when the opportunity showed up to do what I love. And the most important thing is ALWAYS believe and have a faith in yourself and you have to know you’re going to be successful even if you’re just starting.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I like to think that entrepreneurship as a journey. You’ll never be perfect. You learn the mistake along the way. I look at the struggle as the ascending stairway. The higher you get, the more difficult it is to climb. The good news is that you are always getting close to the top, as long as you keep going and focus on the future. Because the future is more important than the past.

Early struggles happen and it’s at these points that my strength, tenacity, resiliency, courage, and motives as entrepreneurs are tested and sharpened. The struggle forced me to get creative and to find my most creative ideas and turned it into reality. I learn a lot of things about myself, my business and my clients in the process.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lashes By Yanna – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Lashes By Yanna is located in West Loop, inside of Lustre Sin Boutique. I offer Lash Extensions for women who like to look their best at any time of the day. Lash Extensions give an instant result in women’s face. Their eyes appear brighter, youthful as well as boosting their confidence.

I specialize in Classic Lash Extensions where I bond each extensions to each of natural healthy lashes one at a time using adhesive to lengthen and thicken the lashes. The extensions will last about 4-6 weeks, depending on the hair growth cycle and the aftercare at home. A touch up is recommended every 2 to 3 weeks to keep the fullness look. There is not a one size fits all in lash extensions. You choose the style according to your lifestyle or the look you’re trying to achieve.

I have a passion for building a strong brand and creating an emotional connection to gain long term relationships with my clients by keeping it consistent. I am my own brand. That includes how I dress, how I look and how I conduct myself. I choose pink and black for my brand look. They are feminine and yet powerful. It has a luxurious feel to it.

Beside the brand itself, I believe that listening to your clients need is one of the most useful tools of communication. I then develop relationship and trust with my clients.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I try to be clear on where I like my business to be, whether it’s next year or the next 5-10 years. I write down my goals, small or big and it’s a great way to see how I progress. I constantly seek new knowledge, increase my skill set, and commit myself in the process to grow my business and make it a solid business. Semi-permanent makeup will be next down the line, as well as starting my own lash extensions line.
