Meet Moe Taleb of Mesa Urbana Mexican Fusion Restaurant in Northbrook and Glenview

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moe Taleb.

Moe, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started working as a busboy in 1994 in the Chicago land area and have worked my way up to management and to eventually owning my own Restaurant /Bar in 2008. Kith and Kin was a gastro pub named among the top 10 best in Chicago and earned a Michelin Star. After searching for many years for a great location in the suburbs close to home I decided to open an Urban Contemporary Mexican Fusion Restaurant, Mesa Urbana In the Glenview/Northbrook area.

I am very proud of recently having Mesa Urbana named among the top 10 best restaurants to checkout by Chicago Magazine and Chicago Tribune to name a few media outlets.

There have been many things I have learned with this new concept but after being in business for close to two years I can honestly say I’m thrilled that I went on this venture.

What kept the excitement for us was how well we have been accepted by the community. I feel our customers are like family to us

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The suburbs are very tricky when it comes to finding good help. It took me quite a while to come up with a team that I can say I’m proud of. and that work well together.

Mesa Urbana Mexican Fusion Restaurant – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are an urban contemporary Mexican fusion restaurant that specializes in the most amazing seafood and steak dishes, cocktails that are made with freshly squeezed juices and over 100 tequila choices along with the best quality wines, spirits and local beers.

I’m most proud of my repeat customers, I can honestly say we have so many, so many regulars that visit us sometimes twice a week.

What sets us apart is quality, consistency, and customer service.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being able to open my second restaurant venture from scratch and making it successful.
