Today we’d like to introduce you to Betsy and Scott Epton.

Betsy and Scott, please share your story with us.
We have been distributors of healthy calorie controlled meal plans for over twenty years. We wanted to offer our clients fresher & better quality with no artificial ingredients, preservatives or GMO’s. We use antibiotic free, free-range chicken and turkey. We wanted our fully prepared meals to be more up-to-date with a better variety and in keeping with our healthful concept of a well-balanced calorie controlled plan. We partnered with our chef who has the same ideas and goals as us and opened our new kitchen on the north side of Chicago in the spring of 2016.

Since then we have been providing thousands of healthy calories controlled meals to our loyal and happy customers.

Building a local business and supporting local businesses are an important part of our plan. Our meals give people more time to enjoy other parts of their lives instead of shopping, preparing and cooking. Just HEAT. EAT. LIVE HEALTHY!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road! The first 6-9 months we had to get the “glitches” out of our process. We needed to make sure that the menus were well received. The next step was to guarantee that the shelf life met our customer’s expectations. We also had to be concerned about getting the right containers. The logistics of getting everyone the food from our kitchen to their home needed to be carefully planned. Suffice to say, we accomplished all that and more! We added an approximate 800 square foot refrigeration system which has helped dramatically with quality, freshness and timeliness of the entire process. Our system is now in place successfully and our customers are our testament!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Fresh Plan – what should we know?
We specialize in providing fully prepared, calorie controlled meal plans. Our meals are fresh, never frozen and come fully prepared so our customers just plate and heat if necessary. We provide four different weeks of menus so our customers won’t have to eat the same meal until their fifth week! We constantly work with our chef to introduce new meals throughout the rotation. We are in the process of adding a fifth week of meals. We are also introducing a gluten free program as well as a two meal a day lunch and dinner option.

We are most proud that we listen to our customers so that if changes need to be made, we can make them! The key to being a successful business means to constantly change and meet our consumer’s needs. We offer personal service. We will accommodate our customers with any pick-up or delivery issues.

We offer the convenience of fully prepared meals, not just ingredients that need to be cooked. We work with our chef and nutritionist to make sure our meals are calorie controlled, low sodium, low fat with nothing artificial.
