Chicago entrepreneur and businessman Tim Stojka founded Agentis in 2009 with John as President. The firm evolved from an in-depth understanding that corporate and industrial companies wanted to be more energy conscious, needed a clear and cost-effective path to getting there—but had no access to the analytical tools that would help them meet their goals.
During those early days, Agentis focused on hardware and software solutions for individual corporate and industrial companies to help them see exactly how their energy usage affected their bottom line and how they could optimize energy usage patterns.
Through some initial successes with software, the team pivoted into business energy management technology, and the two attracted committed investors—including The Pritzker Group—and a strong board with extensive energy, technology, and data analytics experience.
Team Agentis began building a proprietary technology platform for utilities and their business customers that provides new ways to best utilize the unprecedented influx of smart meter data and additional data streams.
Today, Agentis provides a technology-enabled, scalable way for utilities to significantly deepen relationships with their small, medium, and large business customers. The Agentis Platform offers a Suite of Services developed to increase customer satisfaction, motivate behavior change, and drive energy savings and program participation.
These offerings include Engagement Software, Business Energy Reports, and utility-facing analytics with specialized program targeting tools. Utility partners can customize the product experience based on size and type of business customer, fuel type, and data availability. Recent third-party findings show 1.5% in savings for a utility partner using the Agentis Platform.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the early days, hardware was a concentrated area along with software. It was hard to scale and harder still to collect the data. By pivoting and utilizing the data utilities were beginning to receive due to the installation of smart meters, the Agentis Platform was able to scale and reach more customers than ever.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Agentis – what should we know?
Agentis creates breakthrough SaaS technology that is revolutionizing the way traditional energy utilities evolve into the Utilities of the Future. Due to changing industry landscapes, utilities must become customer-centric and service focused—creating positive customer experiences. The utility-branded Agentis Platform leverages the latest Big Data technologies, machine learning algorithms, and UI/UX to deliver energy-management software for customers, lead generation for implementers and utilities, enriched field tools for utility personnel, and a marketplace of services.
Agentis provides a white-labeled SaaS platform to utility partners. The Agentis Platform is dynamic and flexible in that there are multiple modules utilities can choose for their deployment—such as the direct mail module and the lead generation module with optional phone outreach, and others. Highly adaptable, software reports can be turned on and off, depending on the target audience and segmentation desired. For example, Utility A may be interested in customer satisfaction while Utility B cares about EE. The Platform experience can be tailored to match. Additionally, software functionality can be tailored to size and type of business customer, so that a large manufacturing customer can have a far different experience from a corner restaurant.
Agentis designs its software with a depth of understanding of the customer—both the utility and its end-users. Extensive Voice of Customer research, tested UI/UX best practices, and sophisticated machine learning algorithms have proven effective in our utility partners’ success. Agentis hosts more than 30B points of energy data in a sophisticated, NoSQL cloud environment that allows for continuous processing.
