Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Kuczek.
Paul, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up in Rolling Meadows, the Park District built an Ice rink. That became the place to be, so I played youth hockey and made some lifelong friends. I started working at High School District 211 in 1979 and rose through ranks in facilities to the Administrative level. I retired from the District in June of 2016 to join Nicholas and Associates helping them in creating the Mount Prospect Ice Arena.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We had a couple of challenges, the biggest was our timeline. We closed on the building February of 2016 and skated for the first time on August 25th, 140 or so days. Assembling a staff, that went from building, cleaning, to making ice and greeting our guests, it tested all of us!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Personally, I wouldn’t have done anything different. I have been fortunate to have enjoyed great careers that provided both personal and professional growth. Professionally, the rink has met and exceeded our expectations as a company and I look forward to continued growth and success!
