Today we’d like to introduce you to Dori O’Meara.
Dori, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My passion for makeup and the beauty industry started as a young girl when I would go to the nail and hair salon with my mom. This passion was apart from all through my school years and when I graduated high school I considered beauty school but ended up getting a Fashion Marketing and Management degree. About 6 years ago I was sitting at the dining room table talking to my now husband and said I wanted to expand on my passion for makeup so I got certified and started hustling. Working full-time Monday-Friday and then working for free on the weekend to build my portfolio and figure out where I fit in in the makeup world. I realized after doing my first couple of weddings that bridal was my niche and the rest is history 🙂
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing in life is smooth but I am extremely blessed. I’m a firm believer that if you work hard it will pay off. It’s cliché but it’s true. Sure, working 6-7 days a week took a toll on me sometimes but in the end, it’s been nothing but amazing experiences.
Dori Mae Makeup – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Dori Mae started as a bridal makeup business. What I think I am personally known for is my natural approach to makeup applications. I listen to my clients. I ask questions and most importantly I make sure they are excited about their experience with me. My 17 years of working with clients and in leadership roles have helped shape me and my business.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I love this question!!!!
Success for ME is being able to balance it all… working full time, a momma to two under two and a wife of a firefighter. Success isn’t about how much money I have or about how book smart I am. Success is about happiness and love for myself and for others.
