Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack O’Boyle.
Jack, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
PLOT Technology Group began as InterACS, Inc. in 1996 as a regional Internet Service Provider while also providing IT services and Network wiring for businesses in the Phoenix and Chicago markets. Soon, a high percentage of our work involved support for local telephone companies that were trying to roll out VoIP solutions for their customers. These phone companies did not want anything to do with wiring and IT, nor did they have the expertise needed to merge Voice and Data over a common local area network.
Unfortunate for them, but lucky for us since we are real good at it. After several years of listening to the horror stories from their customers about impossible-to-understand billing, poor customer support, finger-pointing, etc., we realized we could do it better. And we did. We rolled out our Cloud Phone service in 2015 to the delight of our customers. Cloud Phone rounds out our complete service offering including Cloud Computing, Remote Help Desk Pro, Network Security and Virus Protection. Of course we still provide IT and Wiring support, but now we are in 4 states serving several hundred locations.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course when starting out, business had its highs and lows, but we managed to remain profitable since day one. Word-of- mouth served us well and contributed to our growth for many years. The real challenge when rolling out “yet another telephone service” is how to convince businesses that a small group of entrepreneurs can provide better products and services than the monopoly corporations that have been doing it for decades? We’re doing it one new customer at a time. Each new customer is happy to refer us to their friends. They love our responsiveness, the ease of doing business with us, and our technical expertise – not to mention the high quality state-of-the-art equipment and services with no long term commitment. Word is getting out and the momentum is building! We have a long list of businesses tied to Long-term contracts with existing providers waiting to make the switch.
