Today we’d like to introduce you to Alvin Raul Cardona.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always had a passion for wine, Cheese, Chocolates and coffees. Coming for a mixed background of cultures I was exposed to fabulous foods and spices as well as amazing wines and coffees.

The Cardona Collection by CarTurk, LLC was formed in 2005 when two friends, Cardona and Turkia, sat at dinner in Mexico City sharing stories of world travels and the foods they had tasting. This conversation leads to the forming of the Cardona Collection of wines and Spirits.

CarTurkLLC is an importer and distributor of Wines, Spirits and speciality foods in Chicago.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting any business is always a challenge. New things to learn, people to meet and having them taste your product.

Chicago is a modern city with an old mind set many people still do business with the old timers and won’t give you the time of day. That has been one of the hardest things. Just getting a meeting with someone to taste your brands. We have been persistent and after about the third time someone sees you they say, ” Ok, fine let me try”. If the price point is ok, many buyers will give you a chance. It’s just getting them to taste that is the challenge at times.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cardona Collection By CarTurk – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are wine and spirits importers and distributors. We mostly carry products from Italy, France and Spain. We are working to expand our portfolio of products and brands. We like working with boutique Wineries and suppliers who are not represented in the Chicago market. It’s great to bring in something that no one has ever seen or tasted here before.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We hope to continue growing in Chicago. We would love to be in more restaurants and supermarkets. It’s a great feeling walking into an establishment and ordering a bottle of wine that you Imported or to have a friend send you a picture from the supermarket with your wine in their hand.

We look forward to meeting more buyers in Chicago and expanding into more businesses.
