Today we’d like to introduce you to Carol and Tim Burd.
Carol, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
For many years, I baked birthday cakes for my children, and then, years later, for her grandchildren. At Carol’s house, there was always something delicious baking in the oven. When her precious pups began having tummy troubles, Carol realized she wanted to provide them with food and treats she could feel good about. 2 Paws 4 U Pet Bakery & Treats sprouted wings in that kitchen full of ingredients like peanut butter, carob molasses and lots of love. Carol and her husband, Tim, share their home with Bear, Bailey, Lady and Prince, the inspiration for their family business.
“Our passion for pet health in our community goes beyond feeding them well. At 2 Paws 4 U Pet Bakery & Treats, the big picture includes helping local animals in need. We do this by hosting adoption events with local animal rescue groups right in our shops.
These events provide a forum for connecting homeless animals with caring families (and special treats!). We also offer regular shot clinics where pet owners can purchase low cost pet vaccinations to keep their furry friends in good health. Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have our ups and downs just like any other business but our customers are the best. Tim and I love what we do. Somedays better than others but for the most part we love what we do…
2 Paws 4 U Pet Bakery & Treats – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a specialty store for good dog food no grocery store food sold here. We are picky in what we sell. Tim does an amazing job researching the food and treats before we bring it in.
The kitchen is where the magic happens we bake birthday cakes, cookies, cupcakes, all different sizes and flavors.
Every holiday has cookies to go with it Christmas is our biggest, Halloween, Thanks Giving, Easter, 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day etc.
We have an amazing staff of bakers, decorators, and cashier/stockers.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The ribbon cutting it made it real.
