Meet Thom Lobe of Regeneveda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thom Lobe.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
By training and practice, I’m a Pediatric Surgeon. So, perhaps it seems odd at first glance that at Regeneveda we focus on anti-aging and regenerative medicine. But from my perspective, it’s a natural transition.

I’ve spent 40 years watching infants and children heal better and faster than their adult counterparts with similar diseases. In that 40 years, I have learned some of the secrets of staying young and healthy – looking and feeling better, through understanding genomics, nutrition, hormonal health and stem cell biology.

I still practice Pediatric Surgery full time and have just been appointed as Professor of Surgery at UIC where they also have a Center for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine. It is such a rapidly changing field that I spend hours each day just keeping ahead of the latest developments so that each patient I treat has the advantage of state of the art treatments that really work.

I was born in Baltimore where I graduated with Honors from Medical School. All my surgery training was at the Ohio State University Hospitals and what is now Nationwide Children’s hospital. From there I worked at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston Texas as their chief of Pediatric Surgery.

My work there at the Shriner’s Hospital taught me much about nutrition and wound care. I then moved to Memphis, TN to start up a training program for Pediatric Surgery. There, I was also appointed Chief of Pediatric Surgery at St Jude Children’s research hospital and in that role was involved in the care of patients who had undergone stem cell transplantation for their cancer.

It was after I completed my Physician Executive MBA at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2006 that I got the germ of an idea to start Regeneveda. And, it has taken me nearly a decade to get it right.

We strive to help patients achieve their goals of staying as youthful and healthy as long as possible.

I can say without any doubt that the treatments and programs we offer are the most advanced in Chicagoland, if not some of the most advanced in the country.

When it comes to aging, some do it better than others

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I started the practice in Beverly Hills, California in 2008, about the time the economy took a turn for the worse. We stuck it out at great hardship, loss and personal expense and due to personal reasons moved the practice to Chicago in 2013 where we essentially had to start all over again. Over the past four years we have nearly doubled the practice each year as the people of Chicago learned about us from word of mouth and internet searches.

We are at the point now where, to best serve our patients, we are bringing in a talented new physician to help out what, up to now, has been a one man show.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Regeneveda story. Tell us more about the business.
Regeneveda is likely the most advanced regenerative medicine practice in Chicago and one of the most advanced centers in the world. We have patients travel to see us from around the world and moved our practice from Beverly Hills California so we could be more easily accessible to all – being centrally located.

We specialize in Stem Cell Therapy for a variety of condition and advanced, personalized anti-aging including genomics, nutrition (including Intravenous therapy), lifestyle, and hormonal balance. Our goal is to extend your healthy, active productive years as long as possible using evidence based medicine that includes conventional and un-conventional treatments.

We cater to discerning, patients who demand the very best for them and their families.

We have been practicing medicine for over 40 years and stem cell therapy for over 30 years.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
It’s not a matter of luck. Our success is built on serving our patients’ interests and needs the best we can, every step along the way. Patients often come wanting a specific treatment or program. Once we know their goals, we can help guide them to better, often less expensive options and allow them to see better results.

We also accommodate our schedule to best serve our patient’s needs. I’m often in the office until 10 at night and on Saturdays and Sundays if that’s what my patients need from me. So, it’s persistence, hard work and dedication more than luck.
