Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Caruso, MD.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in Boston Massachusetts, in a family with generations of nurses and firemen. With the encouragement of my parents, I dreamed of a day where I can help people through medicine. It took three attempts to actually gain admission, and I learned of my acceptance to Loyola University in Chicago one week before classes began. I planned to spend four years in Chicago and then returned to my New England roots. However, I met the I grew up in Boston Massachusetts, in a family with generations of nurses and firemen. I planned to spend four years in Chicago and then returned to my New England roots. However, I met the woman who I now happily spend my life with, and married her the day after I graduated from medical school.
I chose to go into the field of women’s health because I enjoyed the challenges and rewards. I was fascinated by the world of human reproduction and was very excited to enter the field in 1997. For 16 years, I primarily assisted couples in the quest to build their families through whatever means necessary. In 2010, I started to feel that there were more natural ways in which this goal could be reached. So. In 2015, A Bella baby OBGYN was born. The goal is to offer a more natural approach to female healthcare. Rather than applying quick fixes, an attempt is made to try to find the main reason for the concern, and address this either through changes and diet, natural hormones, or surgery if necessary.
It is a great happiness to see the birth of babies to couples who would hope to achieve this goal for years and the wonder in the faces of women who are having their first or even additional children. It never gets old.
An area of particular excitement for me is the time I spend as the volunteer medical director for several crisis pregnancy centers in the Chicagoland area. I have an excellent relationship with the boards of directors of these places and spend time reading ultrasounds, reviewing policies, in offering encouragement.
I have also been blessed to speak in many different places. I spent time in Costa Rica assisting the government with a concern in front of the International committee on human rights. I have given talks and seminars Throughout the United states. There have been radio and television appearances as well as articles in the Chicago Tribune and other periodicals which have addressed my approach to health care as well.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’ve been privileged to be able to see the changes in medicine over the course of my career. I’ve seen firsthand how more patients have been challenged by the changes in health insurance.
I do opening a practice such as A Bella baby OBGYN would be seen as countercultural. I have been humbled to see patients from all walks of life, and try to offer the best care that I can.
I have a group of very dear friends who started a Facebook page per year to before I actually opened up the practice who have been nothing short of incredible. We continue to look for new ways in which to spread the word of this brand of care.
When the law known as HB 1564 passed, I joined several of the crisis pregnancy centers in a suit against the state. This law restricted the conscience rights of health professionals. While it is mostly been touted as a law that will require physicians to either perform terminations or refer directly for terminations, it is far broader. It actually requires that if a health professional is asked to do a procedure which they do not feel comfortable performing, they either have to find a way to perform it themselves, or be prepared to discuss the benefits as well as the risks, and to be able to give them a written referral to a specialist to provide that service. The lawyers have been successful in Rockford court twice so far, and it is our hope that this law will ultimately be found unconstitutional.
A Bella Baby OBGYN – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?

Privileged to Serve.
It is a privilege to serve each patient, and I endeavor to be truly present to those who come for care. All are welcome, no matter their state in life, or religious affiliation.
Fertility is a gift, a power, and a responsibility. The therapies which are used cooperate with and seek to restore the body’s functioning. Natural family planning is advised and supported not only to help in the treatment of many gynecologic problems including infertility but also to strengthen their marriages and families.
Uphold the sacredness of life.
A Bella Baby OBGYN recognizes the dignity of each person, especially the most vulnerable: the sick, the poor, the unborn, and the elderly. Women in crisis pregnancies are received with compassion. A Bella Baby OBGYN does not recommend abortion, euthanasia, sterilization, or contraceptive services. More and more women are being hurt or having significant side effects from these services, and they deserve better.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I feel that if I can greet each day with a beautiful beginning, and if each patient can leave with a knowing smile that it is a good day.’
In terms of conception, the goal is to achieve a pregnancy or for the couple to feel that everything has been done so they can move forward without regret.
At the end of each day, if I can feel that one person has made a change for the better, that that is me best measure of success
