Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Maksud.
Jeff, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started August 8th, 1988 with 500 shirts for the first cubs night game and sold about 5 due to the rain out and the number of vendors trying to capitalize on the first ever cubs night game. However, everyone that saw the shirts loved the creativity behind it and the quality of the screen printing. I took this and ran with it and started MSM that day. Fast forward 29 years later, I have 3 sales people with Sales over a million dollars and part of a 500 million dollar a year network.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No It hasn’t, 2008 killed us. We had to regroup and set a new direction, part of which was getting rid of the screen printing portion of the business and moving more towards sales only.
Please tell us about MSM Promotions.
We are a promotional products company with separate units. one being events and the other print.
We do specialize in promotional products, are we not order takers, we are here to serve the client’s needs and what we think would work best for their budget and needs. We are known for our Honesty and Service. People come to MSM because they know they will get a fair price and exceptional service. once we get an order, the last thing we want is for our clients to worry about getting them on time. That is our responsibility and very very important to us. Our service is what I like to think makes us different, we are committed to making you happy and take one less thing off your desk.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Playing against Brett Hull in Hockey. I didn’t get much playing time and was only 7, but it is something that his father Bobby confirmed to my three boys.
