Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Dino Mantis.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in Hammond, IN. I knew I wanted to be a dentist in 6th grade. I had set my goals and achieved them. I worked during college and dental school as a cook in a restaurant. I graduated dental school in 1987 from Loyola School of Dentistry. I had previously worked for another dentist in an office on Cicero and North Ave from 1987 to 1989. I soon enough came to realize that what I was doing truly was my passion so I purchased my own practice in Calumet City. I then was presented with the opportunity for growth in a thriving neighborhood therefore, I sold the practice in 2011 and moved to Wilmette, IL.
I have done extensive and high quality continuing education from 1997 to present. As a result, I have earned a prestigious Mentor status at The Kois Center in Seattle. On July 20th, 2017, I will be honored with the status of Clinical Instructor.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with any practice, there have always been difficulties along the way, At a young age, I was unaware of the education opportunities that were surrounding me. There were pressures for me to attend a college prep high school however, I wanted to attend the same high school as my friends and be in a comfortable environment. Later down the road in my education, this proved to be a challenge where I truly had to push myself to be better and focus more on academics.
During the opening of my first office in 1989, the previous dentist that was in the building believed in practicing dentistry a different way than I did. Due to my extensive education, I choose to back all of my diagnosis and findings with science and choose to use the best products out there. There are some who disagree with this thinking and choose to use what they are comfortable with. This was the case with the previous dentist. Now the challenge presented itself of how I was going to be able to practice dentistry the proper way and help educate the patients with this new information in a manner where they would trust me and feel comfortable.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Mantis Dentistry & Implant Center – what should we know?
We are a dental office that practices dentistry in a unique way. We truly believe that the patient’s overall health is directly connected to their oral health. We do our best to present treatment on terms where the patient understands. We specialize in implants, using the BioHorizon technique available. Everything that we do is science driven. We always back everything we recommend to a patient with articles so they are just as informed as we are. We take pride in the fact that we always put our patients first.
