Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Abdallah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Prior to opening Clock Tower Dentistry, I spent the majority of my career in Wisconsin serving as a provider and managing dentist. After practicing for several years in Wisconsin I decided to return to the Chicagoland area to be closer to my friends and family. After searching for an office, I thought I would be an ideal fit in for close to a year, I decided maybe it was time to build my dream office; one that made going to the dentist convenient and fun. I was born and raised in the Northwest side of the city, and I was just excited to be close to the city I grew up to love doing what I was meant to do.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been one heck of a roller coaster ride, but I’ve learned to sit back and enjoy the ride while keeping the big picture in mind. The toughest hurdles were probably getting through the village ordinances, hearings, and coordinating demolition and construction between the different responsible parties (landlord, contractors, and IT firm). What was supposed to be a 12 week process was closer to 21 weeks. Now that we are open we just keep our focus having fun and providing a gold standard of care.
Clock Tower Dentistry – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We take pride in being able to call ourselves a true family and emergency dental practice. We have worked with patients as young as 1 year old and as old 93 years old. I have taken extensive continuing education courses in an effort to continue to evolve as a clinician. We perform a lot of specialty services such as root canals, Invisalign, cosmetic crowns and veneers, extractions, and implants. We take pride in treating all patients like family and take the time to not only get to know the patients, but alleviate their fears, and involve them in the treatment planning process. We provide 32 inch ceiling mounted TVs with disposable headphones to serve as a distraction, as well as 40 inch wall mounted TVs to show you what we see and walk you through the plan (with the use of intraoral cameras and digital X-rays). We offer evening appointments and alternate Saturdays and Sundays. Going to the dentist could be daunting, so our goal is to make it as easy as possible.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being able to look back and see our patient base grow, even in such a short period, is a great feeling. We have seen a positive response so far and have received numerous feedback. My colleagues and friends have both commended me as well as warned me for going with a new buildout. All of my friends and colleagues opted to go with acquisitions, but I knew with time we would be able to deliver our standard of care and be able to stick around for a long time.
