Today we’d like to introduce you to Glenn Sieverson.
Glenn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my cryotherapy business after the profound effect whole body cryotherapy has had in my own personal life. For me, it started after a foot surgery. I was looking for a more effective method to relive the persistent pain and inflammation around my incision site. I had the foot surgery done in mid-December and was able to snowboard in early March. I was thrilled not to miss that snowboarding season thanks to utilizing both whole body cryotherapy and localized cryotherapy sessions.
I am a Chicago native and long-term resident of Andersonville. I could not think of a better neighborhood to open up a new business. Locally owned, specialty shops are encouraged in this area.
I also discovered the powerful benefits of NormaTec Pulse Compression therapy. I plan on adding more innovative therapies when they come to market.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Opening up a cryotherapy business in the middle of a Chicago winter was definitely not part of my plan, but with a few constructions, permitting, and inspection delays, I opened my doors on a brisk January 13th 2017. It was a slow start back then but business has been ramping up ever since.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Andersonville Cryotherapy and Athletic Recovery Center – what should we know?
Whole body cryotherapy is a hyper cooling process that rapidly lowers the skin surface temperature in a short 2-3-minute time frame. In response to the cooling, thermoreceptors on the skin send signals to the brain to begin vasoconstriction.
Vasoconstriction pull blood into the body’s core where it gets highly oxygenated and enriched with healing nutrients and enzymes. When the cooling process ends, the enriched blood flows back to the peripheral tissues enhancing muscle recovery, decreasing inflammation, and reducing pain.
Cryotherapy helps with muscle recovery, beauty and anti-aging, inflammation, plus your overall health and wellness.
Professional and collegiate athletes have been using cryotherapy for a few years now.
Gone are the days of a painful 20-minute ice bath. Whole body cryotherapy gives a stronger effect in a brief 3-minute session.
My pricing reflects my commitment to offer this therapy to everyone interested in an alternative to traditional athletic recovery methods. My introductory rate is $35 for a whole-body cryotherapy session.
