Meet Angel Palmeri of Angel’s Touch in Roscoe Village

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Palmeri.

Angel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I knew from an early age skin care was in my future. My love affair with esthetics started with Katharine Hepburn. As a young girl I aspired to look like her when I grew up. Katharine was beautiful, polished and had the most perfect glow to her skin. After watching Bringing Up Baby for the umpteenth time, my grandmother mentioned she (Katharine) used lemon juice and sugar as a face scrub. I asked why and my grandmother said “it’s so that her skin will stay clear and beautiful”. Well that did it for me, at 10 years old I was all about skincare, facial masques and sunscreen! I became a product junky by the age of thirteen all because I wanted beautiful skin just like Katharine Hepburn.

Years later…………. I went to work for a spa in the Gold Coast where I spent a wonderful 16 years learning and gaining experience. I was so fortunate and blessed to work for a woman who believed whole heartedly in educating her Estheticians. I was sent to France, Spain and Germany to learn new skills and techniques in esthetics. From my travels I learned there is a different perspective of Esthetics in Europe.

Europeans believe that skincare is a way of life. It’s part of a person’s hygiene to see an Esthetician regularly. Even preteens start getting their skincare prescribed by an Esthetician. It’s considered the norm and not something frou-frou or indulgent. There is also the perspective that a facial has healing benefits. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, I was taught how to read the face through Face Mapping. A technique which can detect an imbalance in the body that causes inflammation to appear on the face. I’ve also learned Facial acupressure to directly affect and correct the imbalances within the body and the skin. This facial massage is deeply relaxing and restores the mind and body connection.

I’ve seen major trends come and go from harsh chemical peels to other abrasive facial rejuvenation. I feel that more and more people are seeking out natural skincare and facial rejuvenation. We now have technology that can stimulate skin cells without damaging the delicate microbiome of our face. Meaning that you can get the same collagen and elastin production without stripping the skin of its protective barrier. This is what I have always believed in, restoring the skin to health and balance without being too aggressive.

I started my spa Angel’s Touch in November of 2016 as a skincare sanctuary. It’s a place to escape from the “on the go” mentality. My clients will experience honest and unique facial treatments, through careful and respectful consultation. I believe in treating the body as a whole. Which is what I teach my clients to do as well. My facials are not just relaxing and repairing, their educational. You’ll leave with a better understanding of how your body works and what you need to change in order for your skin to look its best.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I once started by own business right before giving birth to my son in 2013. That business never opened due to the fact I literally had no time to myself or for the business. It was a learning lesson for me.

Angel’s Touch specializes in facial rejuvenation through natural and advanced facial technique. I’m known for facial toning “lifting” and for mind body rejuvenation. I offer reflexology, lymphatic drainage, Microdermabrasion, enzyme facial rejuvenation, Kansa wand facials and body waxing.
