Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Oliphant.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started back in 2010 kind of by accident. I like to always figure out a way to make a large purchase make sense so I was wanting to buy an Rv for my family and I to be able to be out together in comfort and I would still be able to conduct business, So I figured the Rv would be a good investment and when I wasn’t using it I could rent it out. A win win situation. So one day I was talking to a friend about my idea with the Rv and he said it was a good idea and asked me had I ever seen any party buses riding around before that took groups of people around to different venues fixed up like a night club on wheels and no I hadn’t so he told me a friend of his had one. Well I went and saw it and the rest is history. I never purchased the RV instead I invested in converting a shuttle into a limo bus and started Rokstars Chicago. I love being a part of thousands of different types of people young and older special occasions. My customers trust me for at least one day
to create an experience that will last a life time. It takes I a lot of hard work and dedication to provide exceptional services to the public, something I have seen my Mom and Dad do all of my life, and it was passed do to me.
Has it been a smooth road?
It was great in the beginning I was providing a new service and everyone one wanted to experience it, that lasted the first 3 years and then it slowed down because of a lot of new competition and with more completion came diminishing pricing but our overhead continued to rise. so I had to become more creative. I became a one stop shop for all your entertainment needs from the beginning to the end we started creating complete packages for our customers. you could call us for transportation, to your venue, we could find the venue, we could provide food for you and your guest, book a hotel, find entertainment and entertainers etc etc you name it and we will find it and put a package together. One phone call was all you needed to make and just relax while one of our staff members worked the magic. The most recent small set back now is the city of Chicago new regulations some good and some bad, has made some shy away from the limo buses.

We can plan our potential customers entire event from a child’s first Birthday to their 80th birthday and everything in between.
Rokstars Chicago specialize in helping create one of a kind experience for all ages. Rokstars get everyone there at the same time on time. No more worries about late arrivals, looking for parking or drunk driving. Whether they have 2 or 100 people we got them covered.
No plans or tired of the club scene. Maybe they just want to share their special day with just family and friends; well they can have their entire event on one of our exclusive venues (Party Bus) on wheels. Rokstars can provide food and entertainment, while they cruise the city or suburbs. I am most proud of the big smiles and thank you’s I get after a renters event is over knowing I just created a great life time experience for my party goers.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, Chicago is a good place to start a business. But you have to be a strong and dedicated entrepreneur to make it and realize great things don’t happen overnight. I think the city should hold more meeting with the business owners and really listen to their concerns and make the changes we may need to keep our doors open and continue to provide great services to the citizens.
