Thanks for sharing your story with us Myong and Sean. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been in the grooming business for 16 years now and I had never thought to open up my own shop. My son persuaded me to open one up and I thought I was ready because I have grown my clinical dramatically throughout the years. I have been featured in the Make it Better magazine in 2014 and 2015. Dog grooming is a passion to me and I see it as a form of art. Every dog I work on, I see it as my own. Every dog that walks out of my shop, I put in the best work I can to make them look better than ever.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. When opening my shop, I always worried about those days when customers don’t come in or if they don’t like my work, and there are those days. The best thing to do is to remember tomorrow is a new day, don’t dwell on the past.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Barks & Bows Dog Spa – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
What makes Barks & Bows different is everyone dog that comes in, they leave with either a bow tie or a tie. I choose to do this because it makes my shop a little bit more unique. Here at Barks & Bows, we are cage free. We want the dogs to run freely and make new friends at the shop! Everything we use is all organic and high quality like our shampoo.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the future, we are planning to hire more quality groomers and enlarge our space.
