Meet Danijela Milovanovic and Zachary Wieder of Esthetic World Beauty: Cosmetic Academy in Norridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danijela Milovanovic and Zachary Wieder.

Danijela and Zachary, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
One beautiful summer in my home country of Serbia, I had a revelation. I’ve always been passionate about fashion, makeup, and the beauty industry in general. It has always been clear to me that my purpose in this world is to make a difference in people’s lives- helping them feel better about both the way they look and the way they feel. This is what led me to microblading and the field of cosmetic tattoo. The first step in my journey was to have the microblading procedure done to my own eyebrows.

To those unfamiliar with the process, I am eager to get you up to date on this life changing method. Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattoo that replicates individual hair strokes in the eyebrow using an ultra-fine series of needles, resembling a blade. This is substantially different than other forms of cosmetic tattoo because this method is entirely manual- No tattoo or permanent makeup machines whatsoever. The shape of the eyebrow is specifically catered to the individual’s facial structure, and the color of the hair strokes is matched to the color of the current eyebrow hair seamlessly. This leaves the client with the most realistic results that are night and day different from the “filled in” look of older tattooing methods.

Now that we are current on the process, my journey continues. I was so impressed by the process itself and how it complimented my face, I knew this was just the career change I had been seeking. Fast forward- after traveling the world advancing my skill set and completing literally THOUSANDS of procedures, I knew it was time to take the next step in developing my business into an empire. Something that will leave a legacy, something for my kids to grow with if they choose to.

This critical moment is what lead me to travel across the world to the United States where I was so positive that I would be able to utilize and share all the experience and artistic passion I had accumulated thus far. The cosmetic tattoo industry is limitless for people who are passionate. Microblading is effective for both men and women, with or without ANY existing eyebrow hair- alopecia for example. However, I knew that as times are changing and men are becoming more comfortable with fashion and beauty here in America- I needed to capitalize on both sexes in the industry.

This led me to one of my first loyal and true American friendships with Zachary Wieder of Joliet, Illinois. Zach is a show stopper when it comes to Scalp Micropigmentation. I had no idea Zach even had this on his head when I originally met him. It is a form of cosmetic tattoo as well, but it simulates the look of a freshly clippered haircut. It allows men who are balding due to age, alopecia, autoimmune disorders, etc to be able to frame their faces and have a natural, realistic hairline with no balding areas.

Zach is a young professional and takes pride in being clean cut and fashionable. I could tell by the way he explained the procedure that he is just as passionate about Scalp Micropigmentation as I am about Microblading eyebrows. I decided to add Zach as a member of our team that until now had only consisted of myself and my husband.

Together as a team, we decided to take the next step in becoming a full blown training facility. We have hundreds of satisfied students so far and this is the fuel to our fire- it is what makes us wake up early in the morning and work until late at night to create the best content, curriculum, and experience possible for our students and clients.

This is the Esthetic World Beauty Difference. Stopping at literally nothing to create an experience that is simply unforgettable for our students. My journey has proven that there are truly no boundaries in this life except for the ones we choose to identify with.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been several obstacles throughout this process that we have overcome and grown from. The most critical obstacle was developing a method that is suitable for all experience levels to learn a new skillset. I always say to my students, “You know how they say when you learn to ride a bike, you’ll never forget? Well this is not like that”. What I mean by this is that cosmetic tattooing is not a theory, it is a new skill. A theory we are able to read, learn, and absorb. A skillset takes this same approach but with the critical difference that it requires hours upon hours to perfect the craft.

The next struggle that I faced since my first day here in America is the language barrier. I am Serbian, my family speaks Serbian at home, I mingle in Serbian communities, and my children go to a Serbian school. I faced this issue head on and began interacting with more Americans, learning the language slowly. I am thankful for all of my clients along the way because speaking and interacting with them has greatly improved my conversational skills in English. Now, I am able to fully communicate in English, although my Serbian accent is strong. Zach and I laugh about some of the ways I pronounce certain words, even with our students in class as they first hear my accent. Every day I am getting better!

The final obstacle that we are extremely proud of overcoming and embracing is how strict laws and regulations are in America. I have grown to value and appreciate these laws because where I come from it is closer to a “free for all” when it comes to cosmetic tattooing. We put safety, sanitation, and following protocol at the forefront of our business model. In doing so, we have come to the realization that, as with most industries, there are people that follow the rules and those who don’t. Our goal is to shed light on the importance of these laws and regulations- they really are for the greater good of the client and the business. In doing so, the client is better equipped with the knowledge necessary to make an informed decision about where they choose to train in cosmetic tattooing or get the procedure itself done. The trust our clients have in us stems from both our personal relationships that we develop with them and the emphasis that we place on sanitation, laws, regulations and good business practices.

Esthetic World Beauty is setting the bar in the cosmetic tattoo and the cosmetic tattoo training industries. We specialize in multiple forms of cosmetic tattoo including Microblading eyebrows, Scalp Micropigmentation hair simulation, eyeliner, and more. We are known for our effective curriculum and dedication to our students. Students do not simply take a course and go on their way- we are there for them through every step of the process and invite them to join private communities that we have developed in order to provide them with a place to ask questions in confidence.

As a company, we are most proud of the fact that we are able to do what we love every single day. The opportunities in this country are endless. Where I come from, people dream of living a life like this. In fact, I was one of those people. I dreamt of being an American girl growing up- placing posters in my room of American movies and TV shows. My goal now is to transfer both my knowledge and my passion to my students, so they, too, can feel about their lives the way I feel about my own.

As the cosmetic tattoo industry grows- the options potential students have to learn increases. To continue leading the pack, we are conscious of and optimize several things that set us apart. At the forefront of these differences is our attention to detail and quality. We have written our own 80+ page textbook, developed online digital curriculum, manufactured our own tools for production, and go above and beyond when it comes to outsourcing projects to ensure that the quality adds to our student’s experience. Aside from our attention to detail, which, quite frankly, any business could do if they were as truly passionate as us, comes something that cannot be learned or implemented by just anyone.

Students gravitate naturally towards Esthetic World Beauty for the European med spa atmosphere we’ve brought here. We differ greatly from everyone else in the sense our facility does not feel like a retail space, a nail salon, a hair salon, or anything that people in America have become accustomed to.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Growing up, I always knew that my artistic sense would lead me wonderful places in life. Living in Serbia, sometimes it was unclear as to where this would take me. Looking back, it is clear now that the time I spent putting makeup on my dolls as a child and drawing eyebrows on them was an indication of what the future would hold for me. In my teenage years, I began experimenting with my friends- tweezing their eyebrow hair creating new and artistic shapes for them to enjoy.

Who would have thought that my life as a child growing up in Serbia was providing me with context clues as to what the life had in store for me…halfway across the world!
