Frankie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Since 1953, Graphic Image Corp. has been serving the Chicagoland area with graphics expertise and unmatched customer service. We, a family-owned, fourth-generation printing and graphics company, dearly appreciate our local, regional and annual clientele, and offer printing, large format, mail & fulfillment services.
Our mission is to provide quality graphics with service that surpasses our competitors by a mile. We know this industry like the back of our ink-stained hands. We make visions come to life and perfect brand identity.
Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing worth wile comes easy. Through the economy struggles, technological and industry changes, GIC has been put to the test over the past 64 years. Currently, we are experiencing another large growth spurt where we are finding ourselves expanding our Large Format printing department/capabilities. Keeping up with the times is the biggest struggle in print. If you do not adapt to the wants and needs of clientele, you will be chewed up and spit out of the industry rather quickly. Our industry is very capital-intensive and if one bad investment is made, the company’s existence could suffer. Online print companies have also undermined the integrity of local printing companies, forcing local shops to severely cut already thin margins in order to keep work flowing. A lot of clients do not care about quality or service and opt for the dirt-cheap, low grade print found online to satisfy their marketing needs. Did I mention next-day turnarounds? Clients have placed other issues ahead of printing needs and make their rushed projects their printer’s problem. This is not usually too much of inconvenience, but when multiple clients are expecting their next-day or even same-day service, production hours are lengthened and some work is lost due to the lack of time.

We specialize in all things print. We have a tremendous amount of graphic arts experience, which directly affects the quality of our service and final product. We offer short-run and long-run “traditional” printing, large format printing (signage), mail and fulfillments services.
We are most proud of our ability to really satisfy our clients in terms of quality, family-style service, artistic integrity, industry knowledge, and our cohesive production staff. They are the key to making things happen.
What sets us apart is our availability to our clients. We are a phone call or text message away from direct answers about your project, sending you happy birthday emojis, updating you on your out-of-country shipment, and offering you our professional opinions. We stay late on Friday nights or work holidays to finish your projects when you need them, not when it is convenient for us. We care about our clients.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We love the artistic and industrial atmosphere of Chicago. Chicago has a great print market and a lot of great clientele are located within proximity of our city. We enjoy our local neighborhood and also enjoy seeing clients in the busy Loop. Also, pizza. Quality pizza make those long nights well worth it.
What do we like least? Hmm…Whether inconsistency is a start! Also, traffic is brutal down here. Aside from that, we have no real complaints! Hence our 64 year tenure in this magnificent city.
