Today we’d like to introduce you to Nazanin Rastegar.
Nazanin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We opened A Matter of Sight with the vision of providing patients with not only the latest in designer eye wear, but also to provide a comprehensive health check of the eye. We have some of the most advanced technologies that allow us to properly and efficiently make a diagnosis. We have had experience in other practices throughout the years and really wanted to capture and incorporate what we thought stood out from each place. Opening this practice has been a long term dream that has finally been put into place. We hand selected each designer frame that is in our office with past experience with the quality of the frame. Our health model has been put into place through extensive patient surveys on what customers are looking for in an Optometry Practice.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some of the challenges we encounter are educating patients there is more to vision than reading the 20/20 line on the eye chart. There are a number of visual skills and seeing clearly is just one of them. Many vision conditions have no symptoms or are not readily recognized, especially in children. About 1 in 5 preschool child has a vision problem and it may go undiagnosed without proper testing. Educating parents and teachers is very important.
Please tell us about A Matter of Sight.
We strive in providing families with the best quality eye care they deserve. We specialize in pediatric and school-aged children, focusing on the visual needs required to succeed in school. We provide vision therapy programs for children and adults that would like to improve their visual skills. We assess each skill and demonstrate what areas would need to be worked on. We also specialize in fitting some of the harder-to-fit contact lens patients that are not currently satisfied with the vision out of their contact lenses. This goes hand-in-hand sometimes with proper diagnosis of dry eyes that may be causing uncomfortable contact lens wear. We provide solutions and dry eye therapy options.
