Meet Barb Noble of The Noble Cakery in Far Northwest-Oregon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barb Noble.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Barb. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The Noble Cakery came to be back in 2013 when my husband encouraged me to turn my hobby into something more. I grew up baking with my mother, idolizing Martha Stewart and loving all things wedding related. This love of baking turned into a passion thanks to my mother instilling in me that dessert can be filled with love

The Noble Cakery in the early stages was a very small scale hobby business where I tried my hand at all types of decorating techniques, tested countless recipes and frankly threw out a lot of cake. After a few months of building my business, I was lucky enough to have a bride trust to make her wedding cake. It’s safe to say that was probably the most stressful experience of my life, but after I successfully completed that first wedding cake, I was hooked. My business started to shift towards weddings and custom designed cakes baked from scratch.

In 2017, my family moved to the quaint town of Oregon, IL and I was ecstatic to find my first commercial kitchen location a few blocks from home. In January 2018, I got the keys to my very first studio and opened my doors in March. My studio is a by appointment cake studio focusing on wedding cakes, custom dessert tables, and buttercream design.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As I’m sure most entrepreneurs will say, the road is never smooth or easy! For the first five years of my business, I worked a full-time job as a bookkeeper as well as making cakes. Then, with my studio came the stress of start-up costs, construction delays, equipment breakdowns, inspections… you name it!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Noble Cakery creates made from scratch wedding cakes and desserts, specializing in buttercream design, Buttercream is an amazing artistic medium and I strive to show the adaptability of it for many different styles of cake design. My goal for each wedding is to create an eloquent dessert experience through charming design, refined buttercream, and thoughtful flavors. What sets The Noble Cakery apart is the attention to detail given to each client and truly want each and every client to feel as if they are family.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a pretty quiet kid. I loved to read, bake with my mom, dream about weddings, go antiquing and do anything artistic. One of my major loves was music, I spent eight years in the choir!
