Today we’d like to introduce you to Sully Jimenez.
Sully, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Since I was a little girl, I always had the love for business and fashion. I never once thought that I could combine the two and be successful at it. My boutique was a vision I had when I was in college. A classmate and I did a project where we had to create a unique store. We came up with the idea of a store that combined makeup and fashion. I pursued my career in Fashion Merchandising at Columbia College. From there I began to network with Chicago’s local talent. Getting my feet wet in the industry was very crucial for the steps I wanted to take. Fast forward today and now, I have created a store where a woman can get a head to toe makeover. I went a step ahead and wanted to create a one stop shop. I personally specialize in fashion and Shapewear. I can modify a woman’s figure into a more hourglass figure and adorn it with the latest in fashion trends. I have makeup artists on site that can create a flawless face and hair stylists that will slay that hair. We truly help bring out that inner beauty every woman has.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am happy to say it has been quite of a smooth road but I have had some challenges. Finding the right way to market ourselves has been quite of a challenge. How do we say we do “everything” without saying too much? That’s a challenge we have recently by doing research and paying attention to our client. I say as long as you have a good attitude and never give up, things won’t be much of a challenge.
Doll Revolution – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We like to call ourselves “The Home of Makeovers”. We have everything from Colombian Shapewear, latest fashion, makeup artist, hair stylists, to now microblading. Our biggest seller is our Colombian Waist Trainers. We have been modifying bodies for 2 years now. Once women were loving their new figures they were coming back our cute body forming dresses. From there we decided to add a salon and offer makeup and hair services. Now we have private bridal pamper parties, makeup parties for the public, to full blown fashion shows. What set us apart is that we cater to our clients’ needs. We find what will best help enhance their features and achieve their beauty goals. Where else in Chicago can you walk in one way and walk out a DIVA?? Only at Doll Revolution.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I have had so many proud moments but I’m going to say it was our first Fashion Show. We recently did it too. It was nerve wrecking to know that we not only had to create and organize the event but we needed to pack the house too. We were gracious to have Maha from Power 92.3 host the show for us. The show was a great success. We were also able to raise funds for Portage Park Elementary’s Drama Club.
