Today we’d like to introduce you to Gilbert Reyes.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Gilbert. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My wife, Nessli, and I started the company in 2011. We came from a nursing background. I started photography as a hobby and brought along my wife when I first went into shooting weddings. Both of us came from the Healthcare industry as nurses before I went full time into wedding photography. A few years ago, my wife went back into the healthcare business and has relinquished her role as my second shooter and is now handling our post-wedding work.
I got to where I am today by appreciating the opportunity I am given in each and every wedding that I shoot. To be able to document the most important part of someone’s life and be given full trust to do it. This feeling of appreciation continues to make me work harder and give my best in every single wedding that I shoot.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For the most part, the path that led to where I am today has been smooth. I consider myself lucky to have clients that have been nothing short of spectacular.
I am also thankful for my friends in the wedding photography business. They have supported me along the way, it wouldn’t have been a smooth road without them. When my wife, Nessli, transitioned from being my second shooter to handling our post-wedding work, our friends in photography stepped up, enabling me to assemble a team of talented wedding photographers to support us.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Greyes Photography – what should we know?
I specialize in wedding photography, this also includes engagement and couple’s sessions. Generally, the style of wedding photography that I am most drawn to are those that are dramatic, moody and elegant. But since weddings are very dynamic and every client is different, my style of photography adapts to what each shot calls for. As a wedding photographer, I believe I am well skilled and equipped to shoot any style throughout the day, may it be traditional, dramatic, fashion, editorial, candids/photojournalism.
I am proud of some accolades that I have picked up along the way both as a result of our clients’ satisfaction and competitions between our peers. I have been consistently awarded The Knot and Wedding wire’s annual award since the year that we started. I am also been designated the title of Associate in WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) for winning 5 Silver Honors of Excellence awards.
But the most I am proud of are all the happy clients and families that we have worked with.
